Bedrock Robotics, the startup retrofitting construction excavators to drive themselves, is valued at $4.1 billion after a $600 million Series C that closed October 26, 2026, co-led by CapitalG and Emergence Capital -- up from $1.75 billion just eight-and-a-half months earlier.

Bedrock Robotics Valuation 2026: From $1.75B to $4.1B in Under Nine Months
Bedrock Robotics announced that its valuation jumped to $4.1 billion post-money on October 26, 2026, when its $600 million Series C closed, co-led by CapitalG and Emergence Capital. That is a roughly 2.3x step-up from the $1.75 billion valuation the company reached after a $270 million Series B announced February 4, 2026 -- a gain of $2.35 billion in valuation across just under nine months, according to TechCrunch and Bisnow.
Nvidia and CapitalG both backed Bedrock in the February round and returned for the Series C, while 8VC has now participated across both rounds as well. TechCrunch reports Bedrock has raised nearly $1 billion in total since its 2024 founding -- a pace that outstrips the four-to-six-year timeline most industrial-autonomy startups take to reach a comparable valuation.

What Does Bedrock Robotics Actually Build?
Bedrock Robotics builds a retrofit kit that bolts onto existing excavators and other heavy construction equipment, rather than requiring a purpose-built autonomous machine. Founded in 2024 by CEO Boris Sofman -- who previously led Waymo's now-shuttered self-driving trucks program and earlier co-founded and led Anki Robotics, the maker of the Cozmo robot that shut down in 2019 -- Bedrock's founding team also includes fellow Waymo veterans Kevin Peterson and Ajay Gummalla, and former Segment and Twilio engineer Tom Eliaz, per TechCrunch.
TechCrunch reports the company says mastering excavator operation typically takes a human five years or more, and the Associated Builders and Contractors estimates more than 40% of construction workers will retire within five years -- the labor-shortage backdrop Bedrock is pitching its kit against. About two months before the Series C, Bedrock moved its excavators beyond testing and pilot programs onto active construction sites, according to TechCrunch.
As of October 2026, Bedrock has named four live deployments: a water-treatment facility in Nevada; an earthwork site with Champion Site Prep in Texas; a 1.2-million-cubic-yard civil sitework project with Zachry Construction Corporation; and a newly announced partnership with Haydon, an Arizona general contractor, covering advanced manufacturing, water and wastewater, data-center, and healthcare projects. The company has not disclosed revenue, contract value, or how many hours its autonomous kits have logged in the field.
What the headline misses
Four named job sites is a thin operating base to support a $4.1 billion valuation, even in a hot funding category. Bedrock has not disclosed revenue, contract backlog, or safety/incident data for its autonomous excavators, and construction sites carry liability and insurance exposure that warehouse or indoor robotics generally does not. None of that is disclosed in TechCrunch's reporting, which focuses on the round and the company's named customers rather than operating metrics.
The pace is also unusually fast even for 2026's funding environment: a 2.3x valuation step-up in under nine months, on top of nearly $1 billion raised across roughly two years since founding, assumes the labor-shortage demand thesis converts into paying, multi-site contracts well before the kind of utilization data that would normally de-risk a round this size becomes public.
The bottom line:
Bedrock Robotics is valued at $4.1B after a $600M Series C co-led by CapitalG and Emergence Capital -- a 2.3x step-up from $1.75B eight-and-a-half months earlier -- on just four disclosed deployments and no reported revenue.
