Legora's valuation reached $8.8 billion on October 21, 2026, after the legal AI startup raised a $550 million Series E led by Atreides Management, according to TechCrunch. That is up 57% from the $5.6 billion mark Legora held just six months earlier, and it lands alongside annualized revenue that crossed $200 million โ double what the company reported in April 2026.

How did Legora's valuation reach $8.8 billion?
Legora, founded in Stockholm in 2023 and now headquartered across New York and Stockholm, closed its $550 million Series E on October 21, 2026, pushing its valuation to $8.8 billion. Atreides Management, a Boston-based investor new to Legora's cap table, led the round. New backers Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Glade Brook Capital Partners, and J.P. Morgan joined alongside existing investors Accel, Benchmark, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, ICONIQ, Insight Venture Partners, Menlo Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, and Sands Capital, per Legora's own newsroom announcement.
The new mark is up from $5.6 billion in April 2026, when Legora closed a $50 million extension to its $550 million Series D โ a six-month, 57% step-up. At that time, Legora's ARR stood at $100 million; it has since doubled to more than $200 million, according to TechCrunch. Legora says the fuller arc took it from $1 million to $100 million in ARR in under 18 months, then to more than $200 million in another six, with the money earmarked for expanding its "Legora aOS" platform across North America and internationally, per tech.eu.

How does Legora's valuation compare to Harvey's?
The comparison investors make first is to Harvey, Legora's closest rival in legal AI. Harvey raised the same $550 million about a month earlier, in September 2026, but at a $15.5 billion valuation โ nearly double Legora's $8.8 billion mark. Harvey had already reported ARR above $200 million back in March 2026, so both companies are now priced on roughly similar revenue bases, even though the market values them at starkly different multiples. See the full Harvey vs. Legora comparison for how the two platforms differ on product and pricing.
What Legora's revenue growth actually looks like
Legora describes its early growth as unusually steep for enterprise software: $1 million to $100 million in ARR in under 18 months, then another $100 million added in under six months, according to the company's own newsroom post. The company says more than 40% of its new customers in the third quarter of 2026 were in-house corporate legal teams rather than outside law firms, and that the US is now its largest market by revenue โ a shift from its original footprint among European and UK law firms.
Legora CEO and co-founder Max Junestrand called the opportunity "enormous," saying the company is "still early," per Legora's announcement. Atreides Managing Partner and CIO Gavin Baker said Legora "has become the platform that law firms and in-house legal teams adopt and then expand across their organizations," and Legora CFO David Eckstein said the company wants "every dollar" of its $200 million-plus ARR "to be a durable one."
What the headline misses
A 57% valuation step-up in six months is a steep repricing, but it is still a markup set by new and existing investors in a single private round, not a market-tested price. Legal AI has become one of the most capital-intensive subsectors of enterprise AI in 2026, with Harvey, Legora and smaller rivals collectively raising billions on the bet that law firms and corporate legal departments will keep paying a premium to cut associate hours on document review and contract drafting. The risk every investor is underwriting: large firms could eventually build comparable tools in-house, or a horizontal AI platform could absorb the use case the way general-purpose coding assistants have squeezed some vertical dev-tools startups. Sources also disagree on some of the finer details of Legora's prior round โ tech.eu describes it as a $600 million Series D roughly six months before the Series E, while TechCrunch describes a $550 million Series D plus a separate $50 million extension in April 2026 reaching the same $5.6 billion valuation; this post follows TechCrunch, the outlet Legora's deal was first reported through.
