Robotics startups have raised more than $23 billion in 2026, already close to matching all of 2025's total with five months of the year still remaining, according to Crunchbase News. Humanoid-specific funding is running even hotter: humanoid robot startups alone have pulled in $8.6 billion this year, 1.8 times all of 2025's full-year total, per Tech Funding News.
Figure AI leads the pack, having raised roughly $2.34 billion cumulatively at a $39 billion valuation -- the best-funded pure-play humanoid company globally. NEURA Robotics, Apptronik, Galbot and UBTECH Robotics have each raised $1 billion or more. The capital is chasing real deployment, not just demos: robots are now running on factory floors at BMW, Amazon, Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai, according to the same Crunchbase data.

The strategic signal extends beyond the venture rounds. Nvidia unveiled a standard humanoid-robot hardware blueprint at its GTC Taipei conference, effectively trying to do for humanoid hardware what it already did for AI chips -- become the reference platform everyone builds on top of. Sam Altman has separately called robotics OpenAI's next frontier. And Meta acquired humanoid startup Assured Robot Intelligence outright, folding the team into its Superintelligence Labs unit rather than just taking a stake -- a more aggressive move than the funding-round activity elsewhere in the sector.
What the aggregate numbers can't show is how concentrated this capital actually is: five companies -- Figure AI plus the four $1B+ names -- likely account for a large share of the $8.6 billion humanoid total, meaning the "robotics boom" headline number obscures a much narrower field of investable, venture-backable bets than the topline figure suggests. Deployment at BMW and Amazon is real, but it's still pilot-scale relative to those companies' total workforce, and the gap between "robots are on factory floors" and "robots are load-bearing parts of factory economics" remains wide.
