Claude Code and GitHub Copilot are products inside larger companies; their valuation columns describe the parent and are excluded from the $136.8B combined figure, as are Vercel and Supabase, whose platforms reach beyond AI coding. Run-rate revenue is usually one month's revenue times 12 and is not the same as annual revenue.
What the numbers say
- Revenue arrived unusually fast. Cursor reached a reported $4B annualized revenue about four years after its founding; Fortune called it, by some measures, the fastest-scaling B2B software company ever. Cognition nearly doubled its run-rate in four months (TechCrunch).
- Prices keep resetting. Cognition went from a $26B valuation in May 2026 to $48B in September. Lovable doubled from $6.6B in December 2025 to $13.3B in August 2026. Replit went from $3B to $9B in six months.
- Two buyers, two markets. Cursor, Cognition, Factory and Claude Code sell to professional developers. Lovable, Replit, Emergent and Vercel's v0 sell app building to people who may never read the code. That second group is what most people mean by "vibe coding."
- Adoption is broad but shallow. Most developers now use AI tools, but in Stack Overflow's 2025 survey 72% said vibe coding is not part of their professional work.

There is no audited market-size figure, so we track the companies instead. The standalone AI-coding companies in our table carry a combined $136.8B in latest valuations or deal prices, led by SpaceX's $60B Cursor acquisition and Cognition's $48B valuation. On revenue, Cursor reached a reported $4B annualized run-rate before the SpaceX deal, Claude Code passed $2.5B in run-rate revenue in February 2026, Cognition reported $900M in September 2026 and Lovable $500M in June 2026. These are run-rates disclosed at different dates, not one market total.
What are the key vibe coding statistics?
In Stack Overflow's 2025 Developer Survey, 84% of developers said they use or plan to use AI tools in their development process, up from 76% a year earlier, and 51% of professional developers use AI tools daily. But 72% said vibe coding is not part of their professional work. Microsoft said in July 2026 that GitHub Copilot had reached 50 million users. Lovable says it hosts 60 million projects with 900 million monthly visitors.
