Retension is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing treatments for hypertension and other cardiovascular disease. Proceeds are earmarked to complete a Phase 2b trial of its lead candidate, RTN-001, in uncontrolled hypertension, and to prepare for a planned Phase 3 study -- meaning the company is still at least one full trial away from a pivotal readout.
The listing is part of a broader run of small, clinical-stage biotech IPOs clearing the market this month even as larger, capital-intensive listings stall. TRexBio closed its own offering the same week, and together the two raises total about $161.7 million, as Pulse noted after a much larger infrastructure listing was withdrawn. Unlike TRexBio, which has an existing pharma partner in Eli Lilly backing its pipeline, Retension's prospects rest entirely on a single Phase 2b readout -- a narrower, higher-variance bet for investors who bought into the IPO.
