Analysis
Fal, the San Francisco startup that hosts and runs AI video, image and audio models for developers, has raised $1.3 billion in a Series F led by Bessemer Venture Partners, a round that values the company at $16 billion, according to Bloomberg figures cited by TechCrunch.
The new mark is double the $8 billion valuation Bloomberg reported for Fal in April. Fal announced the Series F alongside an earlier Series E, with additional Series F participation from Nvidia, Sound Ventures and T. Rowe Price.
What Fal does
Fal was co-founded in 2021 by Burkay Gur, a former machine-learning lead at Coinbase and engineer at Oracle, and Gorkem Yurtseven, a former developer at Amazon. The company runs AI inference -- the process of executing an already-trained model to generate outputs -- for video, image and audio models, serving developers who increasingly build on open-source models rather than hosting the infrastructure themselves. Pulse previously covered Fal's climb through a reported $4 billion valuation last October; the company has roughly quadrupled that mark in just over a year.

How much has Fal raised?
Fal's funding history, according to TechCrunch and funding tracker Multiples, includes:
- Pre-seed, July 2022 -- $9M, led by Andreessen Horowitz.
- Series A, September 2024 -- $14M, led by Kindred Ventures.
- Series B, February 2025 -- $49M.
- Series C, July 2025 -- $125M at a $1.5B valuation, led by Meritech Capital Partners.
- Series D, December 2025 -- $140M, tripling the valuation to $4.5B, led by Sequoia Capital with Kleiner Perkins, Alkeon Capital, Nvidia's NVentures and Andreessen Horowitz participating.
- Series E, 2026 -- led by Sequoia Capital, per TechCrunch; amount not separately disclosed.
- Series F, November 2026 -- $1.3B, valuing Fal at $16B, led by Bessemer Venture Partners with Nvidia, Sound Ventures and T. Rowe Price participating.
Together, the Series E and Series F rounds raised $1.65 billion, Fal said.
Who invested in Fal
Bessemer Venture Partners led the new Series F, with Nvidia, Sound Ventures and T. Rowe Price joining as participants. Sequoia Capital, which led the earlier Series D and Series E rounds, remains among Fal's backers alongside Meritech Capital Partners, Kindred Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz, which first backed the company at its 2022 pre-seed.
AI inference market and competitors
Fal competes with Baseten, Fireworks AI and Modal, all of which TechCrunch reports are also raising large rounds at higher valuations as demand for inference capacity surges -- particularly from companies running open-source models rather than proprietary ones. Dealroom reported in March that Fal's annualized revenue had already doubled to $400 million since October 2025; TechCrunch now reports, citing Bloomberg, that the figure has surpassed $800 million. But the inference business carries structurally thin gross margins because providers must buy or lease the GPU capacity they resell to developers -- a dynamic TechCrunch says holds across Fal's highest-flying rivals, not just Fal itself.
What to watch next
The bear case for Fal and its peers is that inference is becoming a capital-intensive, low-margin business dressed in an AI-multiple valuation: whoever controls compute pricing -- Nvidia and the cloud providers -- can capture more of the economics than the resellers do. Fal's next test is whether its revenue growth outpaces its compute costs enough to show real operating leverage before the next funding mark is due, expected whenever Fal next returns to market.
