Anduril is valued at $90 billion in an October 2026 employee tender and projects $4.3 billion of 2026 revenue. Shield AI is in talks at $20 billion or more on a plan for $540 million-plus. One is becoming a defense prime; the other is selling the pilot.
Anduril Industries and Shield AI are two of the best-funded US defense tech startups selling drones and autonomy to the Pentagon, and searchers keep putting them side by side. The comparison is useful because the two companies made opposite bets. Anduril builds the whole weapon system, factory included. Shield AI built its business around Hivemind, software that flies other people's aircraft, plus its own V-BAT drone. This guide lines up the valuation, revenue, funding and products, then says which one each kind of investor or buyer should care about.

Anduril vs Shield AI: Valuation and Revenue ($B)

Anduril leads every absolute number; Shield AI's case rests on growth and on owning the autonomy layer.
How much is Anduril worth?
Anduril is worth $90 billion at the price of its October 2026 employee tender, which offers $94.80 per share, opened October 13, closes November 9 and is capped at $1.3 billion, according to The American Bazaar, which cited Bloomberg Law. Employees in 16 countries can sell. That mark is about 48% above the $61 billion post-money of the $5 billion Series H that TechCrunch reported on May 13, 2026, led by returning investors Thrive Capital and Andreessen Horowitz. The Series H doubled the $30.5 billion Series G of June 2025 and took total funding past $11 billion.
A tender sets a price for existing shares, not new money, so treat $90 billion as a secondary mark. Anduril was separately reported to be in talks for a new round at about $100 billion; Defense News carried that Reuters report on July 24, 2026, and an Anduril spokesperson said no decisions had been made. The full round history is in our Anduril IPO and valuation guide.
How much is Shield AI worth?
Shield AI was valued at $12.7 billion post-money in March 2026, up 140% from $5.3 billion in March 2025, TechCrunch reported on March 26, 2026. The package was a $1.5 billion Series G co-led by Advent International and JPMorganChase's Security and Resiliency Initiative, $500 million of fixed-return preferred equity from Blackstone, and a $250 million delayed-draw facility, per Shield AI's own announcement, which also covered the purchase of flight-simulation company Aechelon Technology.
Six months later, Shield AI was reported to be in talks for a Series H at a valuation of at least $20 billion, about 57% above the March price; Dealroom summarized The Information's September 15, 2026 report. No lead investor or round size was named, and the round had not been announced as closed as of October 15.
Which has more revenue, Anduril or Shield AI?
Anduril has far more revenue. It reported $2.2 billion for 2025 and expects to roughly double to $4.3 billion in 2026 while losing more than $1 billion, Investing.com reported on March 5, 2026, citing The Information; the same report said Anduril does not expect positive adjusted EBITDA until 2030. Shield AI projects more than $540 million in 2026 revenue on growth above 80%, Fortune reported on March 26, 2026, and has not published margins.
On Value Add VC's arithmetic, the $90 billion tender is about 21x Anduril's 2026 projection and about 41x its 2025 revenue. Shield AI's $12.7 billion is about 23.5x its 2026 projection, and $20 billion would be about 37x. In other words, the smaller company already carries the richer forward multiple, and the reported round would widen that gap. The Anduril revenue breakdown lists the contracts behind its number.
What each company actually sells
Anduril sells finished systems. TechCrunch's Series H report names the Fury autonomous fighter jet, the Lattice software that fuses sensor data for joint missile defense, and work on a space-based missile defense layer, and Anduril builds much of the hardware in its own plants. That makes it look more like a new prime contractor than a software company, with the capital needs to match.
Shield AI sells a pilot. Its Hivemind autonomy software "has already piloted 26 classes of vehicles including F-16s, jet-powered UAVs, helicopters, drone boats, and ground vehicles," according to its March 2026 announcement, and it pairs that with its own V-BAT drone and the X-BAT aircraft in development. The two businesses meet in the Air Force's Collaborative Combat Aircraft program: Hivemind was selected in February 2026 as a provider there and is designed to work with Anduril's Fury, per TechCrunch. What the headline misses
Neither company files public accounts, so every revenue figure here is a company projection or a leaked number reported by the press, and both depend on a handful of US government programs. Anduril's projected loss of more than $1 billion in 2026 means its valuation assumes years of funding before profit. Shield AI's higher multiple assumes autonomy software earns software-like margins, which neither company has shown in public numbers. One read on this: the $20 billion talk prices Shield AI as if Hivemind becomes the standard autonomy layer across many aircraft, and the CCA selection is the main evidence so far.
Verdict: which one fits which reader
- Secondary buyer who wants the category leader: Anduril. It has 8x the projected revenue, a recent priced round and a liquid-ish tender price to anchor on.
- Investor who wants growth per dollar of revenue: Shield AI, with the caveat that you pay a higher multiple for it, especially at $20 billion.
- Program office buying autonomy for an existing aircraft: Shield AI's Hivemind, which is built to fly other makers' platforms.
- Buyer who wants one vendor for sensors, software and the airframe: Anduril, whose Lattice-plus-hardware model covers the whole stack.
- Anyone waiting for an IPO: neither has filed; track both on the Tech IPO tracker and in our Shield AI IPO guide.
