Analysis
This week's SEC filing activity kept pace with 2026's record IPO year. At least nine companies filed Form S-1 registration statements, including biotech names Serina Therapeutics and Silexion Therapeutics, along with Bitari Inc., Nexentis Technologies and Enhanced Group, according to SEC EDGAR records. Bitari's filing targets an initial public offering of 4,285,715 shares at an expected price of $7.00 each.
The filing pace sits inside a broader wave: roughly 39 IPO pricings landed across the five trading sessions of the week of Aug. 24-28, spanning small-cap operating companies, SPACs and at least one notable upsized pricing -- Londian Wason New Energy Tech priced at the top of its range on Aug. 25, raising $94.3 million.
The bigger number
2026 has produced 235 US IPOs to date, up 2.6% from the same point in 2025, building on a second quarter that set an all-time quarterly record of $104.8 billion in IPO volume -- a run that included SpaceX's $1.77 trillion listing in June, still the largest IPO ever completed. That volume record makes the window for a mega-cap AI listing as favorable as it has been in years, which is part of why both OpenAI and Anthropic are actively working prospectuses even as their timelines diverge.
What to watch next
The next inflection for this pipeline is less about weekly filing counts than about whether Anthropic's targeted September-October window holds, and whether OpenAI's 2027 lean becomes a firm decision or shifts again as market conditions evolve. A soft IPO market by year-end would pressure both companies' timing; the current pace, if it holds, argues for the window staying open through at least the first mega-cap AI listing.
