Analysis
Platform Accounting Group has raised $355 million in strategic growth financing led by Treville Capital Group, the Salt Lake City-based accounting roll-up said, more than four times the $85 million round Cynosure Group led in February 2024.
What Platform Accounting Group does
Founded in 2015 by CEO Reyes Florez, Platform Accounting Group has grown by acquiring and partnering with boutique accounting and advisory firms while letting local offices keep their own brands and client relationships. The firm says it now serves more than 50,000 clients through regional offices and specialized advisory practices, offering tax, client accounting, audit and assurance, advisory, technology consulting, wealth management and family office services. It has completed more than 65 acquisitions to build that footprint, according to the company. Source
Platform Accounting Group funding history: how much has the company raised?
The new $355 million round follows an $85 million minority investment that Cynosure Group led in February 2024, with continued participation from early investors Swell Capital and Peery Capital, according to Accounting Today. Source That round gave Cynosure its first stake in the company; Cynosure has now returned as a participant in the new financing alongside a larger syndicate of institutional investors. Neither round discloses a valuation, and the jump in capital raised -- roughly 4.2x the 2024 round -- compares capital to capital, not valuation to valuation, since the new round pairs equity with credit facilities rather than a straight primary raise.
“It has completed more than 65 acquisitions to build that footprint, according to the company.”
Who invested in Platform Accounting Group
The new financing was led by Treville Capital Group, with Vista Credit Partners, Siguler Guff, Aquiline and Brightwood Capital Advisors also participating, and existing investor Cynosure Group returning for a second check. Perella Weinberg Partners advised Platform Accounting Group on the deal, while Choate Hall & Stewart represented Treville. The company also added Treville partner Dan Bailey and Barry Salzberg, Deloitte's former global CEO, to its board -- a signal that Platform is recruiting big-four-caliber governance as it scales past 50,000 clients.
Accounting firm M&A market and competitors
Platform's raise lands in the middle of a record year for accounting-firm consolidation: there were 194 M&A transactions announced or completed in the sector in 2025, and financial acquirers such as private-equity groups accounted for 54.8% of that activity, up from 38.9% a year earlier, according to CPA Practice Advisor. Source That wave has pulled rival roll-ups and PE-backed platforms into the same hunt for boutique firms, part of a broader run of growth financings and PE-backed rounds our funding tracker has logged this year, chasing recurring-revenue professional-services businesses the way investors once chased software. Private-equity-backed accounting platforms now compete directly with the traditional big four and regional firms for both clients and the boutique practices they are trying to acquire, and multiple sponsors stacking into a single deal -- as Platform's five-firm syndicate shows -- is becoming a common way to spread the risk on bets that local-firm economics can scale.
What to watch next
The bear case for accounting roll-ups is well known in private equity: margins compress when a platform integrates too many acquisitions too fast, and credit-heavy structures like the one backing Platform's new round add leverage that has to be serviced from the same client fees. Neither Platform nor Treville disclosed a valuation or specific new acquisition targets for the capital, so the next marker to watch is how many firms get added to Platform's roster of 65-plus acquisitions before its next raise -- and whether revenue per client keeps pace with the expanding debt load.
