Ampersand has raised a $15 million Series A led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with Matrix, Flex Capital, Yelp and Tenacity Capital among the other backers, according to Pulse2.com. Bessemer partner Lauri Moore is joining the company's board.
Ampersand builds integration infrastructure that lets AI agents read from and write into enterprise systems -- CRM and ERP platforms in particular -- while handling the custom fields, permissions and workflow logic that make those systems messy to automate against. The company was founded by Ayan Barua, a former VP of Engineering at G2 and co-founder of Siftery, and Lauren Long, who previously built Firebase Extensions at Google, a product that scaled to billions of executions a day.
“Ampersand's beta product, Andi, is its first attempt at productizing that layer, and the founders say they consulted with more than 100 companies before launch.”
Moore summed up the thesis: "An agent is only as useful as the systems it can reach." That's the real bottleneck in enterprise AI agent deployment right now -- reasoning models have gotten good fast, but safely writing structured changes into a company's CRM without breaking validation rules or violating permissions is still mostly unsolved plumbing. Ampersand's beta product, Andi, is its first attempt at productizing that layer, and the founders say they consulted with more than 100 companies before launch.
The competitive set includes Merge.dev and Paragon, both selling unified API access across the same category of business systems, though neither was built from the ground up around agent-specific write-safety the way Ampersand frames its product. Hatch CTO John Pena is cited as an early customer reference.
At $15 million, Ampersand is still an early bet on a thesis rather than a proven platform -- the company has a beta product and a customer quote, not yet a disclosed list of production deployments at scale. For GPs tracking the AI-agent infrastructure category, the milestone that converts this from a promising seed-stage story into a durable business is a named enterprise customer running Andi in production against real CRM data, not just a design partner.
