The underlying demand driver, per investors surveyed, is straightforward: as more enterprises deploy AI agents with real system access -- reading databases, executing code, taking actions on a company's behalf -- security teams need entirely new tooling to monitor and constrain agent behavior, a category that essentially didn't exist eighteen months ago. That demand curve is also pulling in an unusually strong wave of technical founders leaving frontier labs and Big Tech security teams to start companies, giving the category a credentialed founder base that's rare at the earliest funding stages.
