Quick Answer

As of November 4, 2026, the 50 AI companies with the most tracked, sourced funding rounds in Value Add VC's database add up to $418.0B combined. OpenAI leads at $179.6B across 4 tracked rounds; Anthropic leads at $111.5B across 4 tracked rounds; xAI leads at $20B across 1 tracked round. Andreessen Horowitz is the most active investor, with sourced stakes in 11 of these 50 companies. Totals sum the sourced primary equity rounds of private AI companies in Value Add VC's database, not lifetime funding; companies with older or undisclosed rounds (e.g. xAI, Perplexity) are undercounted. Debt, secondary sales, re-reports and publicly traded companies are left out, and a reported range counts at its low end.

Coverage note: Totals sum the sourced primary equity rounds of private AI companies in Value Add VC's database, not lifetime funding; companies with older or undisclosed rounds (e.g. xAI, Perplexity) are undercounted. Debt, secondary sales, re-reports and publicly traded companies are left out, and a reported range counts at its low end.

How this is different: most "AI valuations" lists rank a single latest price tag. This ranks tracked, sourced capital raised across every round in our database, and maps who backed each company. See AI company valuations for the price-tag ranking of many of the same companies, and 2026 VC fund closes for who's raising the capital that funds these rounds.

The Market Map

The top 50 companies by tracked funding, grouped by category, biggest first within each group. See "Methodology & How We Categorize" below for the exact rule.

Top 50 AI Companies by Tracked Funding

Ranked by tracked funding: the sum of sourced primary equity rounds in our database, not lifetime funding. A reported range counts at its low end; an "up to" figure counts at the stated amount and is marked. "Latest round" is the most recent sourced funding round we have for that company; the source for every row is linked. Top investors are the investor with the most sourced credits among the top 50.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which AI company has raised the most tracked funding?

OpenAI has the most tracked funding of any private AI company in this data, $179.6B across 4 sourced rounds, most recently a funding round of $11B (of $30B target) on 2026-10-31 (The Decoder). This counts disclosed primary equity rounds with a published source in our database, not lifetime funding or a market-wide total; publicly traded companies are left out.

Who is the most active AI investor?

Andreessen Horowitz has a sourced lead or participating credit in 11 of the top 50 AI companies by tracked funding here, the most of any investor in this data, followed by Sequoia Capital (11) and Coatue Management (8).

How much tracked funding have the top AI companies raised?

The top 50 AI companies by tracked funding in this data add up to $418.0B in disclosed, sourced primary funding rounds as of November 4, 2026. That also excludes debt, secondary sales and tender offers, IPO proceeds, SPAC mergers, M&A and publicly traded companies, so it understates total capital raised across the market.

What's the difference between this and the AI Valuations page?

This page ranks companies by tracked, sourced funding โ€” the sum of rounds in our database, not lifetime funding โ€” and maps the investor network behind them. /ai-valuations ranks the same kind of companies by their single latest post-money valuation. A company can rank very differently on each: a company that raised a lot of small rounds early can out-rank one priced very high in a single recent round, and vice versa.

Methodology & How We Categorize

Data as of November 4, 2026. What counts: announced or closed primary equity funding rounds, each with a published source, for AI companies that are private today, as recorded in Value Add VC's own funding database. Totals are the sum of the rounds we have tracked, not lifetime funding and not a market total; a company we have captured only one round for (for example xAI) is undercounted. What's excluded: debt of any kind, even when it's reported as a raise (credit facilities, loans, convertible notes, and equipment, project, asset-backed or GPU-backed financing); secondary sales, stake purchases from existing shareholders and tender offers, because that money goes to the sellers rather than the company; rounds that are only reported as in talks, sought or targeted (talks and planned raises are excluded until a round is announced or closed; a closed first tranche of a larger target counts at the amount closed); IPO proceeds, SPAC mergers and acquisitions; and companies that are publicly traded today (CoreWeave and IREN, for example), including the rounds they raised before going public, so every company on this map is private. Re-reports: when the same round shows up more than once (same company, an amount within about 5%, announced within about four months, and no conflicting round name), we count it once and keep the best-sourced report. Rounds our editors have marked as a re-report of an earlier round are left out. Ranges: a reported range such as "$2B-$3B" counts at its low end. An "up to" figure counts at the stated amount, since no lower figure was disclosed, and is marked "up to" in the table. Non-dollar rounds count at their US-dollar equivalent. Which companies count as AI: companies we tag as AI, AI infrastructure or a vertical AI sector (healthcare AI, for example), robotics and autonomous-vehicle companies, plus a short reviewed list of AI-native companies we tag by the market they serve (Cognition in developer tools and Harvey in legal tech, for example). AI-chip makers tagged only as semiconductor companies are left out, because that tag mixes them with legacy chipmakers; see our AI chip wars page for that angle. Categories: a short named list of foundation-model labs; AI infrastructure & platforms (our infrastructure tag also covers a few AI-native product companies, such as Lovable and Runway, which we leave as tagged rather than re-sort by hand); robotics & autonomy; and applications & agents for everything else. Investors are ranked by how many of these 50 companies they have a sourced lead or participating credit in, not by dollars invested or number of rounds. Private, unannounced, older or not-yet-captured rounds are not reflected.

Built from our own intelligence store, not a third-party database. A valuation or funding figure appears only with a published source, linked in the table. See our editorial standards; to report an error, email t@nyvp.com.
