Valuation: ~$9B

Set by a $400M Series D in March 2026, led by Georgian — 3x the $3B valuation Replit carried just six months earlier (September 2025). Leadership has publicly targeted $1B in ARR by the end of 2026.

How Replit makes money

Replit runs a browser-based platform for building, running, and deploying software with no local setup — historically a subscription business (Core/Teams/Enterprise plans) for its cloud IDE and hosting. The big shift has been layering AI coding agents (Replit Agent) on top, which added a consumption-based revenue stream billed for agent compute/usage on top of the existing subscription base.

That agent-driven, 'vibe coding' product — where non-engineers describe an app in plain language and Replit's agent builds and deploys it — is what reaccelerated growth: ARR roughly tripled in the first four months of 2026 alone, pulling in first-time builders (including consumers and small businesses) rather than only professional developers, which is the wedge that separates it from developer-first tools like Cursor.

Funding

Replit raised a $250M round in September 2025 (led by Prysm Capital, with Amex Ventures and Google's AI Futures Fund) at a $3B valuation, then a $400M Series D in March 2026 (led by Georgian, with G Squared, Coatue, a16z, Craft Ventures, Y Combinator, Databricks Ventures, and Qatar's QIA participating) at a ~$9B valuation.

Competitive landscape

Cursor (Anysphere)

Developer-first AI IDE, acquired by SpaceX for ~$60B in June 2026.

Cognition (Devin/Windsurf)

Autonomous coding agent + IDE, ~$26B valuation.

GitHub Copilot

Microsoft's incumbent AI pair-programmer.

Lovable / Bolt

Rival no-code/'vibe coding' app-builder platforms.

Trace's Take

Trace Cohen · early-stage VC

Replit tripling to $9B in six months on the back of AI agents is the clearest evidence that 'vibe coding' — non-engineers building real apps by describing them — is pulling in a genuinely new buyer, not just cannibalizing existing developer tools. That's a bigger total addressable market than Cursor or Cognition are chasing, which is why celebrities and sovereign wealth funds are in this cap table alongside the usual venture names. The $1B ARR target by year-end is aggressive, but the four-month run rate from $300M to $525M says it isn't crazy. The real test is retention once the novelty of 'build an app by typing a sentence' wears off.
