Tenstorrent's $1.5 billion Series E at a $6.2 billion valuation, announced October 19, 2026, is the biggest AI funding round of October so far, and Value Add VC tracked 32 AI equity rounds worth about $5.8 billion from October 1 to 19, 2026.
That is a slower month on dollars than September, when the same window held four AI rounds of $1.5 billion or more. But the October list is broad: AI chips, an AI cloud, agents, a model leaderboard, photonics and a robot foundation model all raised $88 million or more. Every round below was checked against the company announcement or a named outlet; debt, rumored raises and public companies are excluded.

How we counted: equity funding rounds for AI-core companies (AI models, agents, AI software, AI chips and AI compute) announced October 1-19, 2026, worldwide, ranked by announced amount; debt, credit facilities, rumored rounds, secondaries and public companies excluded; 12 rounds; as of October 20, 2026. Labelbox's $100M+ Series E (October 14) is left out because it combines equity with an undisclosed credit facility, and Suki's $90M (October 13) because a venture lender co-led it and the equity share is not disclosed. Town's reported $108M Series B (October 19) is pending our verification. Totals are rounds tracked by Value Add VC, not a market total.
What Is the Biggest AI Funding Round in October 2026?
Tenstorrent "raised $1.5 billion in a late-stage funding round that valued the AI chip startup at $6.2 billion post-money, more than doubling its valuation from December 2024," Reuters reported on October 19, 2026. The Series E was led by Trace Capital and Innovation X, with ARK Invest, SanDisk, Morgan Stanley, T. Rowe Price and Tether Investments participating. Our Tenstorrent valuation breakdown covers its funding history.
Second is TypeSafe AI, which announced "$870 million at a $7.5B valuation" on its own blog on October 9, 2026, in a Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz with Sequoia Capital and DCVC. That came less than a month after its $40 million seed at a $200 million valuation; we covered the jump in TypeSafe AI's valuation post. Third, Modal Labs raised $750 million at a $15.75 billion valuation in a Series D led by Accel, SiliconANGLE reported on October 14, 2026.
How Much Did AI Startups Raise in October 2026?
Value Add VC tracked 32 AI equity rounds totaling about $5.8 billion from October 1 to 19, 2026, against 35 rounds and about $15.5 billion in the same September window. The difference is concentration: September's window held Crusoe's $3.9 billion Series F, Mistral's $3.23 billion, Cognition's $2 billion and Fluidstack's $1.5 billion. October's two largest tracked rounds overall, Axiom Solutions' $2 billion and Ramp's $1.85 billion, are not counted as AI by our rule. September's records have also had four more weeks to fill in, so October's count may rise. Our September rankings use a US-only scope, so they are not directly comparable to this global list.
Which AI Startups Became Unicorns in October 2026?
Vinci, which builds an AI physics platform for hardware engineers, announced a $250 million Series B "co-led by Advent, Temasek and Xora... valuing the company at $1.5 billion" on October 6, 2026, per Business Wire. doubleAI, a Tel Aviv developer of code-optimizing AI models, raised $200 million from Lightspeed and Bessemer with Nvidia and Dell participating, at a valuation of more than $1 billion, SiliconANGLE reported on October 19, 2026.
Three more raised at multi-billion prices. Arena, the crowdsourced AI model leaderboard, raised a $200 million Series B at a $3.1 billion valuation, TechCrunch reported on October 8, 2026. Kevin Mandia's Armadin raised $255.5 million at $2.5 billion (TechCrunch, October 1), and GPU cloud PaleBlueDot AI raised $200 million in a Series C at $3.2 billion led by ComputeCore (The SaaS News, October 1).
