Revenue growth by tech market

Market-level growth uses matched panels of public companies (the same companies in both periods). Share is computed only where a defensible denominator exists.

Quick answer

Over the 12 months to 2026Q2, the fastest-growing tech market was AI compute & GPU cloud, up +90% ($135.3B of new revenue), and the slowest was CRM & go-to-market at +12%. Advertising is the largest market tracked: its panel of public ad platforms brought in $598.3B and grew +21%.

Each market total adds up the trailing-twelve-month revenue of the public companies that sell into it, using business segments where they are reported (AWS rather than all of Amazon, NVIDIA Data Center rather than all of NVIDIA). Growth compares the same companies a year earlier, so a company that went public or private in between never inflates or deflates a market.

Private companies such as Databricks, Canva or Anthropic don't file revenue with the SEC, so they are listed next to each market with their own disclosures and are never added to the totals.

What to look for

  • The growth line for each market: is it speeding up or slowing down over the last year?
  • Which companies contribute most of a market's new dollars. In most markets one or two names drive most of the growth.
  • Companies left out of a panel and why: a parent replaced by its segment, a company counted only in its main market, or not enough filed quarters.
  • In advertising, the share chart shows how the measured panel of ad platforms divides its revenue, and which platforms gain or lose share over time.
  • Private companies in each market: the figure, what it measures (ARR or run-rate) and its source.
