Analysis
Guardio, an Israeli consumer-cybersecurity startup, raised $40 million at a $1.1 billion valuation, SiliconANGLE reported, with Wiz co-founder and CEO Assaf Rappaport joining the round personally alongside existing investors ION Crossover Partners, Union Tech Ventures, Vintage Investment Partners, Cerca Partners and Emerge Ventures.
Guardio uses AI to bring enterprise-grade protection to individual consumers -- guarding against scams, phishing, malicious websites and identity-theft risk across browsing, email, text messages and connected devices, according to Bloomberg. The company has now crossed 1 million paying customers, growing more than 100% year over year for four straight years -- a growth rate few consumer-subscription security products sustain that long.
- ARR -- $150 million
- Total funding to date -- $167 million
- Series B (last November) -- $80 million, led by ION Crossover Partners
Guardio competes for consumer attention against Malwarebytes, McAfee's consumer suite and Norton/Gen Digital's LifeLock-branded identity-protection products -- all larger, more established brands with far bigger installed bases, but none built primarily around AI-driven real-time scam detection the way Guardio's product is positioned. The company's bet is that AI-generated phishing and scam content has gotten sophisticated enough that legacy signature-based consumer security tools are falling behind, creating room for a smaller, AI-native challenger to take share.
Rappaport's personal check is the detail worth weighing more than the valuation -- he built Wiz from an Israeli cloud-security startup into a company that drew a reported $32 billion acquisition offer from Google earlier in 2026, and founders who've already run that exact playbook rarely write personal checks into companies they don't think can approach a similar outcome. A $1.1 billion mark against Guardio's ARR works out to roughly 7.3x revenue, a reasonable multiple next to Wiz's own trajectory rather than the far steeper multiples some AI-infrastructure rounds are commanding this year. Customer concentration and channel mix -- direct signups versus browser-extension-store discovery -- are the two things worth checking before assuming that multiple holds as Guardio scales past a million paying users.
